On December 5, 2013 The Province of Manitoba passed The Accessibility for Manitobans Act. The Act provides a process to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility. It requires standards to be developed and adopted in all public areas where Manitobans live, work, learn and play. The Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton is committed to consistently meeting the needs of, and providing our services to, people of all abilities; ensuring that all are treated fairly, with dignity and respect. The attached document was developed to fulfill the Province of Manitoba's requirements, and will be updated as needed.
Municipal Policy No. 2020-07, Consolidated Hiring and Benefits, specifies that the Municipality will make reasonable accommodation for the employment of applicants who are or may be disabled by one or more barriers in the workplace. Under the Human Rights Code (Manitoba), employers are required to provide disability-related workplace accommodations.
