The Municipal office is open Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. If there is a public works emergency that occurs outside of those operating hours, please contact (204) 641-2167. 

Some of the Public Works main responsibilities include: ditching, gravel maintenance, dust control, grass cutting, sidewalks, regulatory signage, civic addressing, street sweeping & snow removal. The Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton employs a full-time public works manager, 6 permanent staff and 1 seasonal staff as well as summer student program that includes 3 students for the summer months. We operate from two public works yards, one located in Riverton, MB and the other located just outside of Arborg, MB.

Dust Control Program

The Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton accepts applications for seasonal dust control in April . Deadline to apply is April 29, 2023 by 4:30 p.m. The current rate for residents per 150 meter application is $355.00 for a 12' wide roadway, and $460.00 for a 16' wide roadway. 2024 Dust Control Application.pdf We accept cash, debit or cheque payments.

The Municipality does not guarantee the effectiveness of dust control suppressant. Once a dust control suppressant has been applied, no refunds will be made. The use of a dust suppressant is meant to control dust on the roadway, not to eliminate in completely.

The Municipality will not be responsible for any private dust control product applied to the roadway by a resident, and will maintain the roadway as deemed appropriate by the Public Works Department.
