The Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton has zoning by-laws that govern the development of properties in their communities. Administration of zoning changes, plans of subdivision and building permits are handled by the Eastern Interlake Planning District. The Municipality has to approve any major changes.
Eastern Interlake Planning District
Located at 62 Second Avenue in Gimli, MB, the Eastern Interlake Planning District provides planning services to the Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton, Town of Arborg, RM of Gimli, and Town of Winnipeg Beach.
To avoid penalty fees, please remember to acquire your approved building permits prior to starting your construction projects.
Also, in an effort to reduce the amount of errors occurring in the placement of structures, EIPD will now be requesting certified surveys of lots prior to the approval of any building permit for new construction such as houses, garages, additions, decks, etc. These surveys shall be prepared by a Registered Manitoba Land Surveyor. Some exceptions may apply.
PLEASE NOTE: Effective January 1, 2019, EIPD will require a refundable deposit when applying for a building permit. The deposit is to ensure that ALL inspections will be requested and completed. The deposit amount will be calculated based on the contract value of the project and will be released upon satisfactory completion of all required inspections.
